Thembalethu Community Centre

Thembalethu Community Centre is an NPO situated in the Greater KwaMhlanga Area in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. The Centre supports orphaned and vulnerable children and their families.
​The word "thembalethu" means "our hope" in the local language.
​

Our services

What we offer
  • After School Programme that assists children with their school homework, stationery and uniforms 
  • Feeding Scheme for vulnerable children
  • Preschool
  • Youth Curriculum Programme which includes vegetable gardening (Farming God’s Way)
  • Home Based Care
  • Community support groups
  • Communal vegetable garden which is farmed by caregivers
 
Supporting school children
We currently reach out to and support 120 children of Grade R to Grade 12 school-going age.



Our team & accountability

The team
The management team is comprised of three full time staff members responsible for the day-to-day running of the Centre. There is a staff complement of fourteen workers (12 women and 2 men).
 

Governance

Matters of governance and policy are overseen by a Board of nine local Pastors. Audits are done independently on a yearly basis. ​
